Field Responsibilities

Like our entire league, prepping our fields for safe and competitive play depends on volunteers.  So, thank you for your effort!

Pinto/Mustang

Home Team: It is the home team's responsibility to chalk the infield before the game.  You coach is busy, do not let them chalk the field. 

1. Chalk is stored in the north shed.  If done right, it should take about a half a bag to chalk a field.
    
2. Always place the on-deck circle (5' diameter max) as close as possible to the fence and aligned with the pitcher's plate for good placement - this is for safety.
    
3. The circle around the mound is only needed for Pinto as are the half way marks.
    
4. Use the rake head for sizing the batter's box (1-rake head wide by two rake heads long) and spinning a perfect on-deck circle.
    
5. The diagram below is the proper layout of the field lines:

Visiting Team: It is the visiting team's responsibility to rake the fields to assure they are safe for play.   Your coaches are busy with coaching - don't allow them to prep fields!
 

1. Rake in the low spots at the mound, pitcher's plate, bases and any obvious low spots.
    
2. Toss Rocks aside when spotted.

Bronco/Pony

All Teams: It is responsibility of all W.Seattle teams to assure the fields are ready for play.  Your coaches are busy with coaching - don't allow them to prep the fields!

Rakes, Shovels, Chalkers, Line and Chalk are stored in the Knaack Boxes (equipment boxes) at each field.  Your coaches know the combination to obtain the key to unlock the box.

1. Rake in the low spots at the mound, pitcher's plate, bases and any obvious low spots.


2. Be sure the bases are set to 70' for Bronco and 80' for Pony.  Usually, there is a stripe painted on the fence marking the base locations.  At LP1, the outer most stripe is 80' and the inner most stripe is 70'.  At RV, the outer most stripe is 70'.  At Delridge SW, the middle base holes are for 80'.
    
3. Toss Rocks aside when spotted.

7. At Riverview, the portable mounds should be placed such that the front lip of the mound aligns with the front edge of the foremost permanent pitching plate in order to obtain the proper Bronco pitching distance (50-ft between the apex of home plate and the front of the pitching plate).
